We all have preconceived notions about everything. I had mine before going to Dolpo. Well, my perception changed and as I type this, it's not the gorgeous scenario of the Himalayas that I miss, it's the people. They are kind and welcoming.
Walking down memory lane, I chose this picture because I think it's pretty enough for you to scroll and read what I have to say! I was in upper Dolpa which lies in the Trans Himalayan region, where I saw its different moods. But honestly, I have never really been so excited about sharing my experiences during those six months. As a grade four science teacher at Shree Yanjeer Gumba Basic School where the subject was morphological study. And guess what!? The topic was an egg. But it was so difficult to get an egg due to the cold climatic region. But luckily we got one egg in our village. And I boiled it and began to teach the students. Damn, we all were so excited about it. Five students and four teachers including me and one egg. Literally, we divided it into pieces and shared it with all nine of us. It was one of those rare instances that I am extremely happy and proud of. In fact that incident taught me so much..... like my perspective towards life, kindness, appreciation and so many things that I feel grateful about which I had previously taken for granted.
On a side note, one of my students got an egg free of cost from villagers just because I'm going to teach them. Otherwise, it would cost Rs 100 per piece of an egg.
